I finished this piece after looking through the Library of Congress images. Gatchaman is the Japanese title for the animated show we know in the US as Battle of the Planets or G-Force.

I love the Flickr page of US Library of Congress. My good friend at Kill Palm Trees introduced it to me a year or so ago. I haven't gone back for bit and when I returned I found a collection of photos of Lincoln. The quality of the images they post is great and some of the images I have never seen before. Last year was the 200 anniversary of Lincoln's birth. Many magazines featured an article about it. I found a magazine that published 8 portraits of Lincoln in 1858 (two years before he was elected President). I decided to paint all 8. Here is the first.

Here is a recap of the last two months. I want to thank firephotoputer, photocafe, edgar99, and Manicmonkey. I hope you enjoy your artwork.

Last couple of weeks I have been going back to basics using pen and ink wash to work out my ideas.

I like them very much and I hope you do too.

I will work with pen and ink more often along with the paintings. I believe they inform the process on each other.

I'm going on a small tangent and really enjoying working with black and white. Ink has always been one of my favorite mediums. Paintings will be on their way again shortly.

I went back to the Lincoln Portrait and this time just used pencil and ink. I also did some quick studies of Batgirl and Spock. Look for them in future paintings.

March Recap

March was a busy month for me. I was able to paint more and have more of a presence on ebay. I want to thank mandrake18, olastar, and edgar99. I hope you enjoy the paintings and drawings as much I do making them. Here is a recap of what is listed on ebay this week.

I also joined ETSY this last month. Currently I have only one drawing listed. I created a Facebook page as well. I will put links on the side bar for each in next day or so.

I realized that my skills for painting the figure have been uneven. So I decided to make a series or nudes based on images of Japanese Idols and AV actresses to help me put down the paint with more confidence. I will be making a series of twelve. This month I posted four. I see a marked improvement already. I also posted some drawings. If you look carefully you can see some of the studies for the paintings this month. You can also see a preview of what is to come in April.
